Macroscopic Traffic-Flow Modelling Based on Gap-Filling Behavior of Heterogeneous Traffic

چکیده

Traffic-flow modelling has been of prime interest to traffic engineers and planners since the mid-20th century. Most traffic-flow models were developed for purpose characterizing homogeneous flow. Some these are extended characterize complex interactions involved in heterogeneous Existing do not driver behavior leading gap filling conditions. This study aimed at explaining gap-filling flow by using effusion model gas particles. The driver’s was characterized through developing analogies between Maxwell–Boltzmann equation gases. subsequently incorporated into Payne–Whitham (PW) replacing constant anticipation term. proposed numerically approximated Roe’s scheme, numerical simulation then carried out MATLAB. results PW therefore compared. It is concluded that new this only produces better compared model, but also captures expected reality. main difference two effect bottleneck density propagated form a shockwave travelling backwards time while does exhibit effect.

Modelling Traffic Flow on Motorways: a Hybrid Macroscopic Approach

The necessity for transportation research has been prompted by the exponential rise in vehicle use, research in the field has expanded and diversified accordingly. Despite substantial work having been carried out in Macroscopic modelling, the theory is far from complete [1]. The paper presents a hybrid model which combines the strengths of macroscopic models; the continuum method with forecasti...

Traffic Flow Analysis Based on Queuing Models

One of the most important issues in the plant layout design especially in mass production organizations with high inter-plant logistics is‘material flow and inter-plant traffic analysis and its effects on the production capabilities or pauses in production lines. In this paper the inter-plant traffic analysis issue on the basis of single channel queue model (M/M/1) is analyzed in a carmaker c...

Assessment of macroscopic models of Traffic Flow

The work discussed in this paper consists of a statistical assessment of various finite difference schemes for approximating macroscopic models of traffic flow. Using VISSIM we simulated traffic flow on a section of a freeway with arbitrary characteristics. VISSIM is a traffic flow simulator that uses a microscopic model for traffic. By using data from a microscopic simulation, we are able dete...

Macroscopic Traffic Flow Control via State Estimation

The studies presented in this paper deal with traffic control in case of missing data and/or when the loop detectors are faulty. We show that the traffic state estimation plays an important role in traffic prediction and control. Two approaches are presented for the estimation of the main traffic variables (traffic density and mean speed). The state constructors obtained are then used for traff...

Clusters in Macroscopic Traffic Flow Models

This paper concerns the traveling wave formation in macroscopic traffic flow models. The dynamics involved in this problem is described following a close analogy to compressible fluid dynamics. It is well known that vehicle clusters appear along a highway when the homogenous steady state taken as a reference is linearly unstable. The cluster properties are determined in an approximate way in te...
